DC Comics Online

One of the happier memories I have of growing up is about comic books. I was addicted to them. Donald Duck, Spiderman, The Avengers, Tales From the Crypt, anything with artwork on the cover was okay with me. But I really enjoyed the DC Comics with Superman, Batman, The Legion of Super Heroes, Wonder Woman, The Green Lantern, Flash, the list seems endless.

Todays site, DC Comics Online, is a site where the current crop of superheroes can be viewed. It has been so long since I have read them consistently I won’t pretend to be knowledgeable of who is who. The site does give the visitor a chance to see what the current publications are, what other media activities are available, and how to participate in them. Read about “Dr. Roebling and the Voice Machine” Superman Radio, Batman action figures from Hasbro, and even check in with the original “What, Me Worry” guy, Alfred E. Newman as MAD magazine relaunched its comeback on April 2, 1997.

The comic book has long been an entertaining part of childhood. They also reflect the times in which they were written, and society as it was. Comic books today are far different from the ones I read as a boy, as different as my dad’s were from mine. But they are entertainment, and should be viewed that way. I just wished the cost the same 12 cents that they used to.
